Like many modern musicians, Grand Rapids artist Eric Andrei (E. ∆ndrei) has trouble pinpointing the genre of music he makes. Self-described on his Soundcloud page as mixture of soul, r&b and electronic music, E. Andrei represents the current generation of genre-bending bedroom musicians that don't care much for classification.
Andrei has been a multi-instrumentalist since he was 10, and started his development as a songwriter when he was 15.
“I think my creative process has been constantly evolving, and at this point I just try to keep things feeling fresh for myself. I don't try to recreate the same song, or always start with a beat or melody. Most commonly a song is going to stem from a vocal idea or concept that pops into my head while I'm out and about -living my day-to-day life, but I try to let each song happen in its own way.”
Andrei’s lyrics on his latest single “Will / Fall” are literary, understated and full of longing. They merge beautifuly over his airy production and are layered above a driving sub-bass.
“…find me like the wind that lifts your wings / find me like the vice that soothes your pain / find me like the treasure in your chest / find me like the dreams you've put to rest / find me like the ghost that's haunting you / find me like you know I need you to. “
