Wing Vilma

Artist Biography

BandcampSpotifySoundcloudInstagramTwitterFacebook

Wing Vilma's trademark sound stems from her feverish curiosity and a cultivated, intentional connection with the natural world that empowers her to find musical ideas in places others may not. Sourcing fresh sonic ingredients from the world around her and blending experimental field recordings with her one-of-a-kind synth-craft to design robust and dynamic soundscapes that explore the rudimentary elements of rhythm, frequency and tone.

Wing Vilma is a name Milly Coleman has been using since 2017, and has become a maior part of her persona since its inception. First captured on the 2018 album Safe By Night, the Michigan-born artist creates music by harvesting found sound from the landscapes of both her home state of Michigan and her current residence in Oregon, crafting textures and tones into percussive sequences along with melodic textures.

  • “Simple but perfect tunes waft through verdant electronic landscapes and though occasional slivers of darkness poke through, the album maintains a mostly optimistic trajectory.” - Joyzine

  • Featured single in Resident Advisor

  • “Ambient textures are assembled over slyly assembled beats, and the overall effect is chill, not in the new sense of the word but a throwback to a pre-EDM era of chillout rooms and electronic innovation” - Revelin Magazine

  • Featured in Self-Titled Magazine

  • “Their hour-long Slow Breathing Circuit mix compiles bedroom hip-hop, afrobeat, and left-field pop, a whirlwind of eclectic influences that sculpt the unique sound of Wing Vilma.” - Slow Breathing Circuit
